She Who Runs the World

Ngao design for . Uncolored since I didn't have time to clean it up enough to color it properly.

Ngao is a young cub when her pride is raided by the Savanaland lions and some of the pridesisters are kidnapped. However, instead of showing concern, her mother tells her that the Western pride did them a favor by removing the weak: And pridesister weak enough to not be able to kill off a male, much less be taken captive by one deserves what they get. If any female wanted anything in the world, they had to be strong enough to take it and fight for it. That's how you ruled the world.

From then on Ngao set her mind to getting what she wanted through her own strength and wit. Her mother trained her to be a rithless fighter, and in time Ngao came to revel in the tactics and brute force of battle. She loved sparring with her fellow pridesisters and took sadistic joy in overpowering even the fittest males. She enjoyed scarring up her opponents and the only lasting battle scar she ever got was a vicious bite out of her ear. She fought and grew over the years until she eventually earned her place as the pride's strongest fighter, a position she felt the future queen should hold if she were to rule.

When the time came to choose her own mate she nearly took offense to the tradition of her mate being assigned her protector. She wouldn't depend on anyone for anything, and if she couldn't handle a threat to herself by herself, then she didn't deserve to live. Besides, all of the males in her pride were dull and weak, and their submissive tempering had began to chafe her nerves. They never seemed to put their hearts into battle and often seemed to hold back, something she found deeply insulting. What was the point of their size and strenght if they didn't try to use it to their full advantage? No, if she had to have a male around her often, then he at least had to have a will to fight, to actually harm her if she clashed with him.

Knowing she'd never find that among her pride, Ngao decided to look to rogue males and started confronting intruders herself. The first few were too scrawny and hardly worth a fight, but then one day a large brown male stumbled in looking like he was itching to fight. Surprisingly, despite all of his size and strength, the male was a poor fighter. Rather then kill him however, Ngao decided that a lion with such bulk would probably father her heirs who would be able to use it much better. But she had to be sure of one more thing before she made her choice.

When she let him up the male-Koga- quickly tried to escape but she moved to block him. Seeing his path blocked he quickly switched to attack mode and savagely (and blindly) lashed out, but Ngao was able to pin him down and make him submit once more. Over the next few days Koga would try to escape at every chance, but Ngao made sure to stop and fight with him herself everytime, and kept him close by.
